The central problem is pretty obvious: it's the same thing over and over and over and over again. Obviously a lot more professionalism is going into "Mike Judge's" Beavis & Butthead than whatever the show was in 1993, but that's only slightly in the writing and mostly in the animation. It's still the same kinds of jokes over and over and over again. I went over this with Pugblatt.
As for the early show, yeah, it's honestly mostly borderline terrible and animated like a little kid with a couple of crayons got into an animation studio somehow. Their comments on videos were sort of cute, but the videos themselves were a disappointment, just like they were when Youtube finally showed up in 2006 and I could easily access loads of old videos that I'd never seen, for my favorite songs...and ended up barely watching most of them once. I was hoping for the show to dig up some cool old forgotten 90s stuff for me but it didn't.
I watched all of the old show on some site that illegally had all of it available to stream. It was on web.archive.org and Joe gave me the link but it was very quickly taken down and I had to Google "watch beavis butthead free" or something stupid like that and clicked on a link that was in a Reddit thread, I don't know the URL to save my life. And I'm sure I'll be digging it up to watch the new episodes, because I will watch them. Judge did not write or direct any of the 2022 episodes, and he did not direct the new movie last year either. He's just producing and doing the voices now, at age 60.
Yeah...I meant to do TNG after TOS and just didn't get around to it. I'll surely do it someday, but do I have to watch Star Trek: Picard too?
