If you like Super Metroid, play the illegal, copyright shredding AM2R. I enjoyed it more than any other game I played for the first time in the last 5 years.
Super Castlevania is pretty great as well.
I've never played any N64 game that wasn't multiplayer, and I've never played any Metroidvania.
