I basically liked Lucky Jim but don't really remember what happened in it (and frankly I don't remember much of what happened in Money either--both of these books made the TIME 100 best list, BTW, which is why I read them.)

Rachel Papers was made into a movie in the late 80s starring the guy who replaced Bryan Singer as director of Bohemian Rhapsody BTW.

The reason I cited the "I am a police" line as hilariously bad is that Amis was trying to do *Ameirican* detective fiction with that book.
