I know “Sheltering Sky” is his most popular work (have a copy but haven’t gotten around to it yet) but it seems like short stories are well he truly excels. And it seems like his travels inspired him to write quite a bit about how so called “culture clashes” can oftentimes manifest themselves in shockingly ####ed up ways. So recommend but not for the faint of heart
