Yep. See Singapore as an example where fascism is actually popular and works, because the people don't have to worry about crime and enjoy a very high standard of living (higher than the U.S.). China has successfully made the bargain with the Chinese people that if standards of living keep increasing, they will tolerate the lack of Western freedoms. Most don't care about those things and life is fine and normal for most Chinese as long as you keep your mouth shut about certain things. The only time serious protests occurred was when the coronavirus lockdowns were inconveniencing normal daily life.
