Cymande - Promised Heights + Second Time Round (got a comp including the full s/t debut awhile back but recently decided to check these out and am glad I did because all 3 albums are fuego- great band, killer combo of funk and calypso)
The Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23: The Best of The Brothers Johnson (speaking of Shuggie- profile pic which I'm guessing Sam picked and nobody else could identify- I recently revisited this comp and forgot how good it was. Have loved their version of the title track forever- even better than Shuggie's original- but they have so many great songs and as far as funk that leans more in the disco direction is concerned, these guys are probably 2nd only to The Isleys)
