Well maybe The Ring had rules but who ever cared about them? It's "supernatural" stuff, so anything can happen and you could say "it's supernatural," la dee da, so the whole film ends up being a bunch of supernatural shocks to titillate the audience. And doesn't TonyV's "no buildup, no arc" complaint apply to lots of supernatural horror now?

I know that many people have blasted the original Exorcist for the crudeness of some of the Reagan material but I really think it's deeper than that.

I'm guessing at this point the Dawn of The Dead remake is the only Zack Snyder film that wouldn't give me a headache to watch.
