I could give a ton of examples of how the later games are different from Exile though. Even if it's been longer since I played the Exile games.
To reiterate a "quality of life" thing that I don't like, the already filled out and very detailed world map with markers for where to go for many quests is too much handholding for my tastes. I don't mind that there are more "small" quests that are supposed to nudge you toward where to go "take this book to this person in this town," but that are in and of themselves optional sidequests.
