1. Homecomings and other school dances are a waste of time. They don’t make you a better softball player and will not help you reach the D1 level. They will however keep you from it.
2. Boyfriends are stupid and a waste of energy. Spend more time practicing and working out to be a better softball player.
3. Play other sports if you want. But know that you will be a bad softball player when you are in season with those other sports.
4. Focus on your studies in school. Your grades matter!
5. Don’t get caught up in EI rankings. They mean nothing and college coaches do not give any credence to them.
6. Be realistic in your target schools. Everyone thinks they are P5 material. Most are not.
7. Sept 1st isn’t the pinnacle of your recruiting process. It’s the start of it.
8. Email schools you are interested in and do it often. But you don’t have to do that until you are a SOPHOMORE. 12U and 14U parents, stop acting like you should be worried about recruiting.
9. Twitter was a great recruiting tool. I’m sure X will be better.
10. Parents, college coaches don’t recruit kids with rear end hole parents.
11. Kids don’t normally get recruited on teams or in programs that do not have a history of getting girls recruited. Do your research.
12. Go to school camps. It’s the best way to get in front of coaches.
There is a lot that was missed. I’m sure others will fill in the blanks. Hope this helps.
