Re: Schedule questions?
People hate to hear it but if a family is short on funds, high-level, is not for you. I define high-level as a PGF schedule. By a PGF schedule, I do not mean your team plays in regional qualifiers and says they are playing a PGF schedule. Nor am I referring to the team that plays in the national qualifiers with no intention to go to Cali. I also do not mean the teams that go to the PGF midwest firecracker in Indy instead of IDT. Now that we've cleared that up, if you are playing a high-level schedule it is expensive no matter what your team fees are. So what some parents, maybe you, do is work backwards from the cost and try to rationalize if the schedule is "necessary". The answer is it depends on your goals. Time and time again, knowledgeable and experienced posters share how college coaches want to know that girls are competing against the best talent in the country. One needs to travel to see the best talent. So depending on your goals: 1. Most of it should be carved out. Spring is high school, June is PGF Qualifiers plus maybe a Battle of the Borders, a trip to KC or GA, then on to Colorado, local and KC or AL prior to Cali. 2. See answer above YES 3. Again, spring is high school. Summer, plan on 4 overnight tourneys at least if playing high-level. Everyone wants to be badass and their kid to be badass. There is only one path, even in playing Alliance so if you cant take the heat, give up that roster spot and college coach looks.
