As a coach I've seen just about every variation on this theme that there is. I missed one practice this fall season, and got called out by parents that constantly complain about their daughter having to play 1st base (the player enjoys playing other spots) and not batting higher in the order (she swings and misses a lot, and refuses to bunt) while missing roughly 1/3 of the practices, many with no heads up that she won't be there.
All this is fine, it comes with the coaching territory. But when I see a parent questioning a coaches commitment, I automatically question the commitment of the family - especially since you didn't mention how your kid is at everything, all the time.
At what point does lack of attendance affect the players?
