If an organization wants to have the best possible team it can, taking one lesser player to get a commitment from a super talent might be good math.

Is it fair to the best player who didn’t get an offer? Of course, not.

But I don’t think an organization has an obligation to that player or owes an explanation to those of us who know how to do it better.
