You're right - it's completely insane.

Fall is becoming another extension of summer. Too many teams playing too many games - missing school days and adding even more expense!

Coaches - use the fall to TEACH and TRAIN and then be SELECTIVE in where you take your kids and families for tournaments.

The excuse you'll hear is "exposure", which is nuts. The number of girls playing softball and the number of college spots hasn't changed that much in recent years... but the number of games played at the club level is exploding.

I've been impressed with some of the leaders in our area that are very careful with their scheduling, and just shake my head at those who think 40+ games in the fall is going to make for better players and college opportunities.
