Chicagoland Softball Community -

My name is Andy Berthusen and I am a Lane Tech parent and travel coach with one of the Northside teams here in Chicago. I am currently working together in partnership with the Lane Tech Softball Boosters to form a JV-2 team (aka “freshman” team) at Lane Tech this spring.

Lane currently only fields a varsity and a JV team, but can certainly accommodate a third team give its size. This initiative has the full backing of the the existing Lane teams/coaches, Booster Club, Athletic Director, and Principal - but our last hurdle is finalizing our search for a head coach (and potentially an assistant coach as well) for this team.

Given the reach of this softball community, I was hoping to see if anyone here may either be a potential candidate or may know someone who might be interested in this opportunity at Lane Tech. While a former collegiate softball player with some coaching experience would be perfect (with either a full team or with individual students), we're open to anyone who has any experience in softball and who is able to go through the Volunteer Level 1 approval process within CPS. (The position will be paid, however as most of you probably know, CPS coaching salaries won’t be enough to retire on…)

Finally, as you all of course know the high school softball schedule well, we are under a pretty challenging time constraint at this point in order to get this coach in place and up to speed before the season starts, so speed is of the essence.
