Posting meaningless stuff on social media to pump up your own ego—or your kids’ egos—is just plain foolish. No one really cares what your kid’s college softball team did in October. And outside of family, friends, and the people directly involved, very few people are paying attention to what they did from February through May.
Get over yourself. Enjoy the experience. It’s going to be over a whole lot faster than you think.
On Saturday, I watched a young lady get inducted into her college’s Hall of Fame. Do you know what stood out about her speech? She never once talked about herself or all the records she holds. She did briefly mentioned how many games her team won during their four years, and how much she loved her teammates.
Instead, she talked about the lifetime friendships and memories she made. She talked about how her recruitment and how she could have attended MANY other universities but was thankful she chose the school she did because that’s where she met her husband. Today, they have two beautiful children.
She talked about the life lessons her coaches taught her and the outstanding education she received from the professors in her major.
That young lady got it.
You have such a short time on this journey - enjoy it!
