@SoftballPortal: According to the NCAA more than 31,000 Student Athletes entered the Transfer Portal in 2023. Only 45% were successful in finding a new school. That means more than half did not land with a new team, leaving their athletic and academic careers in question.

Just because they entered the portal doesn't mean they left the school academically. Quite a few of those who went into the portal weren't going to play at the program they were at and probably didn't have high expectations about making a new roster unless they were going down in competition.
