PAID COACHES

Anyone have experience with teams that not only do not have paid coaches, but the head coach has no player on the team or even within the organization? What are the pros / cons of non-paid coaches?

Honestly paid for coaches are over rated.

Sure with parent coaches you can claim bias but then if you don’t buy lessons the paid for coach is bias too.

Parent coaches have more heart.

There are good coaches and bad coaches in every category you can define. It really has nothing to do with whether they're paid or not. The two best coaches my kids learned from and played for were a parent with two kids on the team and a paid coach on a top-level program. Both were great, while others from the same categories were average.

If I had to rank my daughter's coaches over the years, the best coach she ever had was a paid coach. And by far the worst coach she ever had was a paid coach, with many excellent parent coaches in between. It's the person, not the pay grade.

Agree 100%.
My daughter had paid and unpaid coaches who were terrible and paid and unpaid who were great.
