Who are the teams to watch for this season?

HS softball in NWI isnt as competitive as IL. LC has a choke hold on the other NWI schools due to pulling from multiple surrounding towns. Most pull from 1 or 2 towns, LC pulls from 4+ hard to compete against that. Their 3rd on the depth chart is better than most 1st. Their 1-9 is better than some high $ travel teams. That school should realistically win 30+ games every year, and win the state title. Some will say coaching, some will say lack luster non-conference schedule, some will say the personalities and the entitlement in the dugout is their demise. Their always seems to be alot of chatter in the stands/dugout/AD office that seems to follow with this local powerhouse that cant win the big game. In the years to come some local schools have some good talent coming though the program, maybe can stop hearing from the LC parents about how great we are…. But cant win a big game and its the coaches fault….

Lake Central is easily the best team in NW Indiana, unless you consider PENN to be in NW Indiana. LC has seven players presently committed to play D1 softball. With more likely coming in 2025.

If they make some tough decisions to tailor the varsity roster properly, they will be extremely tough. If they chose to hang onto some upper class dead weight, they won't.

Lake Central may be the best team talent wise but the head coach has no idea what she is doing. It will cost them again when it matters most.

I hope the coaching staff realizes that they had no answer for suicide squeezes in the playoffs, and they better fix it.

Nobody hates their competition more than NWI softball parents. Hell, they even hate their kids teammates. Some dark souls across the border.

Had a Mom on a travel team that hated some of my daughter's teammates. Crazy people out there.
