Top 2025s List Non-pitchers

Matti Lawson
True Medina
Oswego Catcher Chavez
Wheaton North girl (can’t recall her name)

There is a reason one of those players is going to Texas. All the other girls are very good softball players but there are levels to the game of softball and the Texas recruit is at the top of those levels.

There's no way Texas girl touches TRUE's metrics.

True is top 10 in the nation for the 2025 class. She's a total package...A quadruple threat. Athleticism, IQ, Drive, presence.

Over Hand throw speed is off the charts
Self taught - Switch hitter
Self taught - Slapper

Exit Velocity is top end expert level on both sides.

Unmatched havoc on the bases!

She's an incredible student ta boot. I'm really not even sure Texas girl could get into NW. But I am sure True could get into Texas! Just check both schools' acceptance rate.

True is #1.

As for Texas vs NW both are good schools any young lady would be lucky to go to either school, but you go with who is giving you the best package. I think that is what True did.

Ha, I can guarantee that's not her dad. As a freshman in high school Tru had the fifth-highest Alister ranking in the country and first for her class. She's an athletic unicorn.

I don't think there is any hatred going on in this thread so far.

Some people think that one of the girls is better than the other, and the other people think the opposite. In reality both players are very good softball players.

Personally I would go with the player that was going on official visits to schools like Texas, UCLA, and other teams that consistently ranked in the top 5-10 in the NCAA.

Everyone was talking about the top players in the state and you completely changed the topic to academics. Try staying on topic.

I guess you had no idea how good the University of Texas is academically. Texas is certainly no slouch on the academic side.

Please check out the link provided above. It shows how closely Texas and Northwestern are in terms of payscale in the work force. The two schools are nearly identical. For a a school that is as large as Texas it is very impressive to be ranked that high on the payscale.

Depends on major. UT, as much as I dislike the school for other reasons, is considered one of the top state institutions in the country. If you want to be an accounting or business major, UT makes more sense as they are Top 10 nationally in undergrad business school rankings. NU on the other hand doesn't have an undergraduate business school despite having an excellent graduate business school. Austin has become a magnet area for the tech industry escaping the rules and regs of Silicon Valley so career opportunities in that area are plentiful. UT also boasts a tremendously large and very prosperous alumni network and competes well in virtually all major sports, enhancing the collegiate experience. My daughter graduated from NU with an engineering degree so I respect NU quite a bit academically, but the decision between going there and UT really does depend on a number of factors.

I think in a general sense, you're correct. But as the man whose daughter graduated with honors from NW, there are degree paths where UT is equal or "better." There's also the general environment, Id much rather be in Austin than Evanston.

Yes, I agree the topic is softball and softball players. The academic aspect was raised and I felt it was too inaccurate to let stand. The lack of recognition of the academic prowess of schools within the different areas of study, stated matter-of-factly that "everyone knows" A > B, indicates the author is probably not qualified to speak on the issue. And should stick with the softball discussion. FYI UT Austin has the #1 ranked accounting school in the country as judged by the Big 4 public accounting firms - and U of I is #3. There are definitely situations, if you are choosing a softball school for academic reasons, you would choose Texas or Illinois over Northwestern. You could make a similar argument for engineering majors as both UT and U of I are rated more highly than NU, though that is a much closer call and depends on what sub specialty you wish to study.

If the girl going to NW wanted the spot at Texas, she would take it, she chose NW because its a BETTER school. Shes the best player in the State thats not a pitcher, if you dont think so you dont know softball.

She's also very family oriented and wanted to stay close to home. She was highly recruited. Her metrics are off the charts.

Being the "best" player in Illinois doesn't necessarily mean you'll even make the roster at one of the top-level programs.

Maybe Texas is the top-ranked team in the country. It depends on who they have in their infield right now. Making blanket talent statements shows a lack of softball knowledge.

Mr. Conroy, I seen a thread that suggested Chicago area softball would be better off if you consolidated to one team per age. I realize you’ve had two teams at each age for a while now so I’m not a supporter of that mindset. I think you owe it to the community to do better to improve the game that you’re so vested in. My daughter said you were having a camp that was run by your Power 4 players called, Bandits know Best, which is great, but it’s not open to the public to register.

Tru is so athletic. Special player. The second baseman on that Glenbard North team is really talented too. Maybe the best middle infield in the state.

Best middle IF in state is either Metamora with an ole miss commit at SS and all stater at 2B or Antioch with Minnesota commit at SS and a big10 recruit at 2nd base.
