Should elite level travel softball start testing athletes for steroids/HGH to be eligible to play in national championship tournaments?

I don't think testing for steroids or HGH needs to be done at the high school age. I am only assuming but I don't think steroids or HGH are used by many female athletes, especially at the high school level.

HGH is very expensive. You would be looking at somewhere around $1,200 to $2,500 per month.

Exactly. They will get tested in college, and the infrastructure to test correctly is horrendously expensive. Probably a more significant issue is kids using doctored bats in exposure events. Like juicing, you can only fool the coaches so much.

I've been around the sport for a while, and I've never seen or heard anything that would indicate a steroid issue. I do agree with the bats, though.

If so, then we need to test for all drugs and alcohol before each tournament? I hear from coaches about girls drinking and smoking up ... should we test for everything they do that is not legal?
