“College Exposure” - Buyer Beware

This over priced Sparks College Exposure Invitational is an absolute fraud. 24 total teams at 14U, 16U and 18U. Schedule came out less than a week before. 6 college coaches signed up to be here over the weekend. Very small schools and programs. One Umpire, which is fine. I never had an issue with one umpire. However, where did the $1495 go toward? I can play in a $300 RR. Worst part, it’s in Elgin. He has players/Parents going to Elgin. Thursday thru Saturday tournament?! Instead of Fri-Sun.

Every coach I exchanged line ups with are done. TD sits in his text with not a care in the world. His own Sparks teams don’t even play in it. Stop supporting this madness.

Be mad at your Org not at this event, the word has been out on this event many years ago. At one team it was a great event that was more than 10 years ago....

Again be upset with your org, this event has been what it is for many years.

$1400 for 7 games isn’t that out of line with other events. The issue is it’s a bad weekend with your elite 16s and 18s leaving for California. Their own teams are out in Californiana. As far as the number of college coaches, thag has to do with the number of teams. The fact is that any 16 or 18 team there isn’t an elite team with top prospects, which is why the college coaches aren’t there.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Why sell it for something that it isn’t. Regardless, lesson learned for all involved. I can think of one coach that would play in that again. Some people need to retire.

Agree, it's been like this for years; this can't all come as a surprise. I think many coaches schedule it because it's close, and they can tell parents it's an exposure opportunity.

They prey on the ill-informed in some cases. Unfortunately this thread will be a repeat next year

It continues because he is making money doing it. This person has a long history of running events that is solely about the money. Why the Sparks continue to let him use their name is beyond me.
