Cliches

There are specific topics I see regularly that always have the same answers, from what I assume are different people. It seems like some responses have just become urban legends, getting repeated without any personal knowledge from the poster. A few:

-You can't get a good education and play DI softball.
-DII and lower classifications are always a better education.
-The only way to get recruited is to send a lot of emails and attend camps.
-Softball Organizations are getting rich off the sport.

etc., what other ones do we see consistently?

Every parent-coached team won't play clearly more talented players over their daughters.

Honest question, have you ever seen a coach play another kid over their own? I have been around a long time and have never seen it, even though there were better options on the team. I have seen coaches pass on players in tryouts who were clearly better than their kid.

My daughter has been on a few parent coached teams, and honestly the coach's daughter was one of the best players on the team each time. I don't think parents of weak players tend to want to coach.

I agree, it would be hard to get any buy-in from the other families if your kid wasn't at least decent. I've had the same experience; kids have all been deserving of playing time. I'm sure it happens, but not in my experience.

Let's say 60% of travel teams are coached by a parent. You're saying all their kids suck?

I've had kids on a couple of parent teams, and only in one instance did I see a kid get some preferential treatment, but she was pretty good, and it was close. In other situations, the coach's kid was one of our best players.

They also reward their own kid after she had a terrible outing on the mound and is 0-2 batting, by never taking her out--- she gets to play 1st base now... great job ... NO ONE BETTER.. That's waxing.
