Any good reports from the field? What is the early read on how 9/1 calls may be similar to our different from prior years… many calls made outside of pitchers and catchers?

Congrats to everyone contacted, and Hang In There to the 27s who were not yet… Hope you saw that Michigan and Wisconsin just verbally some 26s in the past few weeks… keep your chin up!

The number of players who have already committed since 9/1 is pretty incredible. It doesn't look like the transfer portal hurt them.

Went to training that houses many good athletes, from many different organizations. As expected, the top national organizational players received lots of interest. The local/regional organizational players haven't received anywhere near as much interest.

It matters where you play. Quit acting like it doesn't matter.

Personally, I don't disagree. I might be old school so wondering what others think about the 9/1 offers/emails/calls received celebration posts? If I were to guess, many of the photos are taken by a parent.

Personally, my stomach turns at almost all softball social media content. I'm sure 90% is created by parents, and it's always the same humble brag BS.

At the same time, it appears to be effective - X is used by almost every college program and it's one of the few ways pre-contact aged kids can get a sense of who might be interested in them (likes and follows).

In other sports, posting your offers and interest is the norm - football, but even women's basketball. It's interesting that you rarely see softball players post their offers like that (e.g., "BLESSED to received my seventh D1 offer! #Blessed #HardWorkPays #D1Dreams #ScriptureCitation").

But something about the 9/1 posts hit me as especially gross. There are lots of kids who went to bed with broken hearts that night because of the false expectations created about phones ringing all night. You'd think the parents would chill out with showing their kid on the phone with pages of notes. Plus, unless you're gonna go all in on the tactic of trying to create scarcity demand by listing the names of the schools who contacted you, what are you really accomplishing?

We'd all be better off without social media. Because Pandora is outta that box, best we can do is try to give our kids perspective and hope, and encourage them to follow their path - not the BS digital world.

You say social media is working, but it sickens you. Easy fix, don't visit social media. Not everyone can play on a national team, and need to generate interest via social media.

I know some kids who were receiving tons on mail from big programs who didn’t get called by any of them. College coaches need to take some responsibility for those broken hearts

I agree. My daughter is almost finished playing in college now. But most coach's responses (or lack of) was pretty disturbing. Ghosting, non response, misleading, I found it disturbing.

Kudos to a couple of coaches that I found to be in the minority but actually truthful. One said he liked my daughter but had no money left to give. Another stated he liked my kid for her bat but not her defense. A third stated he took a certain player type and my kid didn't fit the mold. Lastly, one plain out stated she didn't have the necessary skills to play for him. How refreshing!

We were stoked to have feedback and to be able to move on to another school. We were actually appreciative because we knew where we stood. Way better than coaches asking to take another look, attend another camp, or not even responding (after showing interest). Honesty (both ways) goes a long way. But we found our journey short on one particular side.
