I know there was a discussion of this back in 2023 of the best team in the state regardless of class. That year most people on this board called Lemont and Antioch the best two teams with their aces and rosters deep with college scholarship talent in their line-ups and on their bench. Especially after their 12 inning 1-0 game in the State Championship.
So who was the top team this year
LWW: They knocked out the clear favorite and #1 team in 4A which was stacked with D1 talent. Then went on to win 4A state championship in a convincing matter. Top 5 team with their star player missing most of the season.
Antioch: A state finals regular. roster mixed with D1 and elite frosh talent. They also took down the #1 team in 3A who had 7 D1 in their line-up and won both games at state in a convincing fashion. Showed speed outplayed power with their offense.
Carterville: Gatorade Player of the Year in the circle. Cruised through the season.
