State Championship vs PGF/Alliance Championship

Would you rather win a State Championship or win PGF/Alliance Championship?

I believe I would personally rather win a State Championship because the State Championship will be remembered by more people. The High School will have that trophy on display for the entire school to see for a very long time. More people in the community will know about a State Championship.

I can see an argument that a PGF/Alliance Championship is better. The consolidated talent pool in a PGF/Alliance Championship is far superior to that of a State Championship. There are hundreds of different State Champions every year vs only two PGF/Alliance champions at each level.

There is no doubt that a state championship means more. It’s also awesome that it impacts not just kids going to
D1 schools, but also kids playing their last game.

HS is super special, and I hope it remains so.

If PGF and Alliance ever develop a combined format, or one wins, my answer may change.

That said, I’m also tired of HS heroes who think their experience in school equates to collegiate success- especially in D1. Dominating a county league (and a C travel ball schedule) does not mean you’ll Hammer Down in college.

Winning a high school championship will always be remembered in the history of the school. Winning a pgf or alliance national championship??

It's nots a true national championship with teams split between the two series. While still an amazing accomplishment, it's not quite the same feat.

Interesting choice. Just to clarify…when you say *you* would rather win a state championship, do you mean your kid?

Unless I'm mistaken, parents aren't actually eligible to win either a state championship or a PGF/Alliance championship.

Interpret the topic any way you want. Would you rather see your child win a State Championship or a travel ball championship, or would you personally rather win the State Championship or a travel ball championship.

High School for sure.
Playing with your friends and for your school cannot be topped. Recruiting will still happen if you lose your first bracket game. The trophy in the trophy case stays there forever.

I know some schools go at recruiting similar to high level travel teams, but for the most part, the teams winning PGF championships is a select group of studs from around the country or at least the region.

High school, even if there is recruiting going on, are kids you know and go to school with and probably hang around with outside of school.

I'd say PGF is more impressive, but school is more memorable.

I'd say for a player, today I'd rather win a travel championship, but when they're done playing the State would be more meaningful.

Amen on the lottery.

Travel is less about the winning than the recruiting; in the end, give me a school championship.
