Area 18U teams at Alliance & PGF

Pulled these from the two tourney websites. Apologies for any errors and I think I have format right, but feel free to make corrections.

Alliance: 91 total teams; three tiers created by pool results.

Cheetahs Connolly 8-3 (won tier 3)
Gators Lloyd 8-6 (runner-up tier 3)
IMG Green 3-3
IMG Moore 4-5
IMG Bennett 2-3
IN Shockwaves White 3-4
Indy Dreams Streeval 3-4
Iowa Premier JT 4-3
Turning2 Robeson 4-2

PGF: Platinum (lower) and Premier (higher) divisions. Really, two separate tournaments.

Platinum - 80 teams (pool, bracket)
Sparks Premier 3-0, 5-2
Stars Coleman 3-0, 4-2
GenuwinReign National 0-2-1, 0-0?
Iowa Premier Carter 1-2, 1-2

Premier - 72 teams (pool, bracket)
Bandits Otto 3-0, 2-2
Bandits Trackwell 1-2, 2-2
Chill 1-2, 3-2
IP Dickel 2-1, 7-2 (top 6 finish)
NLL Gold 2-1, 2-2

ALLIANCE BREAKS INTO 3 SEPERATE TOURNAMENTS AFTER REGIONALS. THINK OF IT AS GOLD SILVER AND BRONZE. TIER 1, TIER 2 AND TIER 3 ARE REALLY 3 SEPERATE TOURNAMENTS WITH TIER 3 BEING THE WORST FINISHERS IN REGIONALS. WINNING TIER 3 IS EFFECTIVLEY FINISHING 65TH.

18U CHILL WAS A TOP 9 FINISH AT PGF PREMIERE.

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS ORDER OF FINISH. POST THE ORDER OF FINISH IN BOTH TIER 1 ALLIANCE AND PGF PREMIER. ALL ELSE IS THE ULTIMATE SLIVER OR BRONZE BRAKET CHAMPION.

IF AN ORG POSTS THEY WON ALIANCE W/O MENTIONING TIER 1 OR PGF WITHOUT MENTIONING PREMIERE ASSUME THEY WON TIER 2, TIER 3 OR OPEN OR PLATNUIM. AT LEASE REPRESENT WHAT REALLY HAPPEND.

There were actually 5 "nationals" last week.

1(t). Alliance T1
1(t). PGF Premier

Those two are basically on the same footing, best of the best in their org. I'll let the die hards quibble over which is better.

After that, there are three others that happened: Alliance T2, Alliance T3 and PGF Platinum. I think it's reasonable to put two on par with each other:

3(t). Alliance T2
3(t). PGF Platinum

That leaves:

5. Alliance T3.

There was probably a "nationals" in Myrtle too, but I didn't get the details...

16U PGF Premier has 160 teams. 16U Alliance has under 100 total. Do your own math for 18s and 14s. You cannot compare Tier 1 to Premier, Tier 2 to Platinum and Tier 3 to nothing. Perhaps Tier 1 and Tier 2 should be comps with Premier and Tier 3 with Platinum. Or just keep being an a$$hole about it.

PGF Premiere 16U does not have 160 teams. PGF Premiere usually has 72 but this year had 80. I may be an asshole but at least I am not a shithead who can't count and doesn't know what I am talking about. Alliance had 91. 32 who won something went to Tier 1, 32 that did alright went to Tier 2 and 27 went to Tier 3. Be proud or winning a 278 team bronze bracket tournament.

Cheetahs gets a lotta slap back on this board. Maybe they deserve it… but you don’t see it with NLL, Sparks, IP, IMG, etc.

wonder why? Coaches don’t boast that I can see and org leader is MIA.

Competition makes us all better. We should want all those orgs to be threatening and/or beating Bandits and Chill.

IP to the west, IMG to the east and Bandits and Chill in the middle. Lots of great talent in this area look at Midwest kids in sec and ACC! But we can and should have more great orgs.

Cheetos, I really don’t care about you guys as much as what you can do for the sport in our area, but I don’t hate you either. Good luck!

Bragging about winning Tier 3 without saying Tier 3 says it all. If you were proud of your success you would post Alliance Tier 3 Champions not Alliance Champions with no mention of the Tier.

Had a friend whose kid won a "National title".

It was some C level end of year bland sanctioned tournament. We still refer to the kid as "the National Champion"

Only 5 18U teams get to say they won their last tournament at this level. You need to qualify to be at PGF, and earn a bid to compete at Alliance.

Obviously Premier and Tier 1 are the most impressive but don't short the teams who won Platinum, Tier 2 or Tier 3. Odds are they competed against all of these teams at one point or another. And most of the players are moving on to the next level.

Stop bashing these 16, 17 & 18 year old kids.

Who is bashing kids? Nothing in this discussion is bashing kids, just laying out the landscape of these year-end tournaments.

To every kid who won games/brackets/tournaments, congrats!

No one is bashing 16u to 18u players we are calling out the irresponsible adults and organizations who promote that they won a natty. In Alliance 91 teams started and after the first round 64 teams were eliminated and given consolation games. Whoever won Tier 2 or Tier 3 won a consolation tournament. 32 teams competed in Tier 2 after being eliminated and 23 teams competed in Tier 3 after elimination. If you won Tier two you were 33rd, not bad. If you won Tier 3 you were 65th and that is nothing to brag about. We are only asking for transparency. Go ahead and post you won Tier 3 Alliance Nationals but don't post you won Alliance Nationals. The same goes for Alliance Open Nationals.

How do you qualify for pgf nationals? My daughters team didn't win any pgf tournaments, but here we are in so cal

Who won Tier 3, Last year that same team would have been ashamed of being in Tier3, oh how the mighty have fallen, pitching leaves......success leaves.
