Do with this what you will, but to all my college coach friends out in the softball world: not having your Twitter/X account set to receive direct messages is a huge mistake.
You don’t all want your cell numbers out in the world.
You don’t pay attention to all of the 300+ emails that you get.
And you don’t have your Twitter messages setting activated.
And for the love of god, if you tell a kid to reach out to you, have the decency to answer back.
These kids live and die by your responses and attention.

Well, like they say, behavior is a language. You just have to listen

I have a daughter who was an assistant at the Mid Major DI level, and they literally had a list of teams they looked at consistently. It was a fluke if they saw a kid not on that list play a team they were watching. Personally feel like the biggest part of recruiting, assuming talent, is your travel team "choices".

There is no doubt colleges look at the name on the front of your jersey FIRST. For years I have watched less talented Chill girls get recruited way more heavily than more skilled Silver Hawk or Cheetah or Sparks or pick your organization.
Don’t get your panties in a bunch cuz I am not saying the Chill does not have great players who deserved the recruiting.

Maybe they are looking at kids that are competing against the highest level every weekend, and will take that kid hitting 300 there vs the kid play USSSA talking about their 600 average.

Completely agree; it's just tough on the talented kids that can't quite swing the National Team schedule as a family. Life is hard, though.

The one story I remember, though, is that my youngest was in the Big Ten, and at the last camp they had the recruits and/or offers all on one scrimmage team. One of the teams they were playing had a kid from a local team, wearing those kind of odd-looking neon unis that seem to dominate USSSA programs, and she was the best player on the field, bat and glove. I asked one of the Ass't's if that earned her a look, and the "answer was, No, she might just be having a good day."

I'm sure that for every story that favors the "name" teams, there are a couple on the other side. This is where the portal comes in. Tear it up at a lower-conference DI or a DII school, and you'll get your chance.

I know of a family member who plays on one of this local daddy ball programs. She attended a camp at a P4 school, and did wow the coaches. The coaches asked for her travel schedule. She was then told that they have no coaches scheduled at any of those tournaments. That's where the interested ended.

If you can't swing playing in the big tournaments, you better be able to swing the cost of college.

It is absolutely true they watch certain jerseys. My daughter got picked up by a big name team and when she when to camps the attention she received from coaches was night and day. If your daughter has the talent and you have the money its well worth playing for a true national level team
