Franchise Fallout

Posted by Ronald McDonald on November 1, 2026, 9:50 am

Is anyone following the drama around a certain California based franchise that had a coach sexually harassing a young assistant coach? There have been probably 8 to 10 teams in their organization cut ties already from what I’m seeing. I wonder if any of the local teams are going to make a break as well.

The entire situation is shameful. According to Softball on Si it is over 20 AM teams around the country that have parted ways. About to be six more AM teams from Illinois added to that total.

After hiring that guy back, they deserve all the backlash and teams leaving them. More teams should leave. There should be backlash every tournament they play. The incident itself is terrible, the hiring back and brushing it all under the rug is even worse.

Can we stop with the “a certain team” crap on this board? Everything here is anonymous anyway - so cut the mystery.

This is ATHLETICS MERCADO and anyone with an Internet connection can find it.

It used to be they won't post names of organizations or people's names.

The people talking in code are old heads.

Yes, confirmed. I am the original poster and I figured I would get censored if I put the name. My lurking here goes back to the days of Snookie and the garbage man that got the site moderated in the first place. Since I posted yesterday, I’ve probably seen another half dozen teams pop up in my feed saying they are bailing the organization.

You're correct that Snookie was the issue that forced moderation.

It seems there's no issue with posting information taken from a "credible" media outlet or from a social media feed tied to an actual person. The ones that don't get posted are from an anonymous parent with an axe to grind, and their anonymity gives no context to their statements. You really want to get your point across? Put it on your Facebook or X account and post a link.

I understand not posting PLAYER or FAMILY names, but am glad that we can now post TEAM or COACH names... that makes this all much improved!

I would like to see a confirmation from the page admin on that statement.

You have your confirmation. The Admin let the post be placed on the site. He/She reviews everything that is placed on the board.

I have had posts denied recently that included organization and coach names, that is why I ask.
