I’m a longtime, dedicated gamer who has always played fast-paced, large-scale shooters exclusively, such as Battlefield and Call of Duty. At the same time, I never got around to purely competitive games like Counter-Strike or the more modern Valorant. Recently, however, I’ve become fascinated by retro gaming. I wanted to experience some of the legendary games from the past for myself. Since I love shooters, I decided to try CS 1.6 first. After a quick Google search, I found the CSGet website, where you can download
counter 1.6 and read a short beginner's guide. Based on the guide's description, everything sounds interesting. The weapon purchase system at the start of each round and the scenarios involving planting and defusing the bomb look very intriguing. But that’s all just theory. After all, the game is nearly 20 years old. Is it still fun to play CS 1.6 in 2026? Is there an active online community and good servers? Also, would it be fun to play alone? I doubt any of my friends would want to play with me.
