Dave is highly skilled, practical and tough, & grew his business with hard & smart work but... the Ventureville program took a "back seat" to his "wealth management". He inherited the auto upholstery biz but succeeded in auto sales and real estate while continuing his father's biz too so I don't think it was easy: I was there for part of it. My critique of Dave and all cryonicists with some wealth, including Ruddel, Faloon, Kent, Laughlin, the satellite entrepreneur and all those who attend cryonics wealth preservation conferences... is that they have neve prioritized the one thing that would make cryonics a true community: a cryonics retirement residence with onsite monitering.

Dave Pizer's search for a location for Alcor in 1992 from Riverside did NOT include a hotel/retirement retreat. Instead it was always near an airport for quick cryonics jet transport and this ended up being in the pricey business warehouse district of Scottsdale. He had a golden opportunity with Mark Voelker to create the world first cryonics/anti-aging hotel retreat when Alcor moved from Riverside CA and the seedy industrial location there but I don't think he really had the vision required for something like that.

At one point Don Laughlin and Dave Pizer were contemplating such a retreat center near Laughlin which I think would have been great. As it is, cryonics members are spread out and don't even gather at the Alcor Scottsdale location anymore. It looks like the Dead Guy Confernence in Colorado might be the next candidate for such a retreat but, as with past efforts, I doubt it will take hold.

Good thing for me that I'm no longer a monist but rather a brain/mind dualist. Still, even as a dualist, I might have considered a retirement retreat with an anti-aging / cryonics theme anyway. Given I've been banned from Reddit/cryonics for discussing quantumonics, however, I would have likely been booted out from such a retreat.
