Ettinger's MIS Index real blast from the past as I reviewed it last night. I haven't picked this book up in a few years and before that in decades so it was entertaining going through his index to see how much I was familiar with, checking off people I've met or read or ideas that I liked or still like.

Today, it occurs to me that I've never heard Ettinger speak publicly or do a presentation out of all the cryonics functions I've been to. I met him a few times and spent a total of maybe an hour talking to him in 3 or 4 occasions but it strikes me I've never seen him speak formally like Faloon or Kent, say or anyone at couple of Alcor conferences I got to early on in the early 1990's. I now wonder if there are tape recordings of him speaking and doing Q&A. He did not impress me the few times I telephoned him... sort of ratchety and irritable, short and not magnanimous. Grouchy really. I now wonder if he actually wrote the books he is said to have written or whether someone else wrote them. I now recall his book wasn't the first on cryonics but rather Immortality Now! was and I once figured out that Ettinger had time to review the prepublication of that before he came out with Prospect. I wonder. My old N54 forums were transferred to the harder-to-read tapatalk but I can still access that and might hunt for it soon.
