1989 book a blast from the past- brings Paul Segall back to life for me as well as life and times... I meet up with Frosty, Miles, Art Quaife, and reconnect with all my cryonics contacts in the book as well as discover new Paul Segall history when he was in New York state in his 20's... and the breakthrough understandings related to tryptophan and low caloric diets, Walford's follow up on that... AND... a Yugoslavian who went to England in 1956 where they did early experiments on rodents at low temperatures.. interesting since I'm half Yugoslav... this I learned new today. Fantastic book... and I wonder how I missed it in 1989... going to Doug Platt's place in 1990 and to Alcor in 1991.. nobody said to me "HEY RICK-- have you SEEN SEGALL's NEW BOOK?"... nobody.. not Pizer, not Mark Plus... not Mark Veolker... nobody at Alcor. Paul Segall I always liked... he came to Toronto not to see me but to be on Morty Shulman's show and I watched Morty all the time in 1980-1983, the studio down the street from me in Toronto at the time while I was working as an accounting clerk at Bank of Montreal 59th floor at Tech Mining. Crazy times. Crazy days. Fun recollections... Great book, highly recommended... and assumes brain-mind-monism of course,... negated since I've become a dualist and see the brain as a quantum antenna obselescing cryonics... but still fantastic read... since I only converted to dualism a few years ago.. and spend most of my life as a monist. Crazy stuff. Good thing I have beer.
