The first article I ran across that was optimistic about physical immortality was Leonard Orr's "The Common Sense of Physical Immortality". I visited Orr at his retreat in California in 1984. Leonard Orr died in 2019.
The second major work I found on beating aging was Pearson/Shaw's Life Extension in 1981. Pearson and Shaw are now both deceased. They spawned a mailing list used by Saul Kent who built on their work with the Life Extension Foundation in Florida. I worked for Kent in 1985 and 1986. Saul Kent died last year.
My backup plan used to be cryonics, founded by Robert Ettinger. Ettinger passed several years ago. David Pizer invited others interested in cryonics to live and work together in Arizona so I did but Pizer died last year.
Many wealthy life extenders are still dying normally so I think this is likely a problem that won't be solved in time for me after all as I had originally thought possible. I realize new technologies are on the horizon but they always are and death always defeats them.
My new interest is in making my transition to the afterlife as smooth as possible both in estate and stuff management and in aging and dying, myself. That's a much more realistic and attainable "goal" if you can call it that. Once I'm in the afterlife, I'm told I'll be able to see things more clearly.
