I would add that we won't conquer death the way cryonics envisions but death is being conquered... and has always been conquered in manner quite similar to what all the ancient and modern religions teach... after all... via a soul of sorts, the soul being a field effect that is already immortal. In short Pre-incarnation and Re-incarnation are processes that already conquar death.
To conquer death, at least temporarily, biologically, is theoretically still feasible via life extension and anti-aging but accidents, wars and disease can still take their toll on the biological and even cyberbiological entity.
Cryonics assumes monism, but the human entity is as the ancient Greeks decided, dualist: Body and soul. Our scientific understanding of the soul took a turn for the better in 2017 when Matzke published Deep Reality showing how quantum physics provides the underpinnings for our 'soul' after all.
No sign up required. No insurance required. In fact, "storing up treasures in heaven" for the next incarnation of ones' self is the best we can do, along with conquering premature death via anti-aging research and life-extension to the best degree possible. Cryonics might preserve the brain-antenna but only to a certain resolution and certainly not down beyond the resolution of 10*-9 nanoscale. Conciousness is primary and resides at 10*-32 or smaller in the world of existons, pure information fields that cannot be frozen.
