concern is with the difficulty of preserving dynamic bioelectric states and connectivity at the fidelity needed. Freezing and thawing disrupts gap junction coupling, membrane potentials,
and the physiological dynamics that for him store the pattern memory. He has discussed
xenobots, anthrobots, and regenerative medicine as more actionable ways to study
persistence of self than whole body cryopreservation with current technology.
rick adds- Scanning a gluteraldehyded brain via Sparks method has not been discussed yet but I'll get to it. In the meantime, Levin knows regeneration in practise like burr and russell who I quote frequently here... but he thinks fields are generated within the cells. No matter.... his practical work is the closest I can find that follows up on burr and russell. REgneneration medicine as EOBecker/MLevin discuss might lead to antiaging breakthroughs we need. I'll have to look up his xeno and anthrobots... almost sounds like drexlers nanotech machine repair but with a regeneration twist.
