I wanted to let you know, a post-collegiate group out of Boulder, CO (Roots Running Project) is hosting the Pacific Pursuit 10k event on February 17th at UC San Diego. The hope of this event is to provide elite distance runners with the opportunity to chase World Championship and Olympic Trials event standards while highlighting the facilities at UCSD. We currently have a field of top men and women from across the country coming to San Diego to chase fast marks, including athletes from Hanson's Brooks, Hoka NAZ Elite, Team USA Minnesota, Mammoth Track Club, and more. Many of these athletes will have legitimate shots at making the 2020 Olympic Team in the 5k, 10k, and marathon events. So this is an opportunity to come watch and help a step in their process to make the US team heading to Tokyo next summer.
Come Watch: It is my hope that you can help spread the word about this event and we can have a good crowd on the night. Admission is free and we'd love to have as many spectators present to cheer these athletes on.
Volunteer: Putting on an event like this is a big undertaking, particularly for a small non-profit group like our own. So if you or someone you know would like to volunteer on the night, don't hesitate to let me know.
Participate: Finally, to kick off the night on Feb 17th, we are holding Open (including Youth) and Elite Mile heats which will precede the Elite 10ks. Entry for these mile heats are free and athletes can sign up on our site: https://rootsrunning.org/pacific-pursuit-10k/. Entries close on February 8th.
