Situated at the edge of Kingswood Forest, The Stone Dragon tavern is on the border of the King's control. Consequently, it is a hotspot for outlaws and law-abiding citizens alike. A number of secret rooms, doors and passages enable outlaws to hide or make a quick getaway whenever the King's men come swooping in. As there is also an inn here, this is also a popular place for temporary travellers and explorers.

thoth we spend all our time running for our lives, going nowhere
Wolves were a calm animal. Why shouldn’t they be? They were at the top of the food chain. Thoth felt his heartbeat slow down a fraction as he transformed, the aromas filling his sharper nose demanding some attention back from fairy stress. Keeping his injured paw elevated, he limped after Danny and Cypress as they headed for the door on the far side of the room. Progress was slow going, since he had to wade three-legged through the water, but he found his stride once they were out in the open. From here, it was only a few hops (literally) to the edge of the forest.
The subsequent walk through the woodland was one of the most painful Thoth had ever endured, and not just in the literal sense. He alternated between forging ahead, trying hard not to knock his paw against logs or shrubbery, and slowing his pace to walk alongside Cypress. She seemed happier when he was pressed against her leg, but the angles meant he was more likely to catch his hurt paw and it also slowed them up considerably. Every now and again, when they reached a more well-worn path, Thoth pointed the other two in the right direction and went back to scrape twigs and leaves over their footsteps to cover them. It would have to be enough, since he didn’t have time to lead them on a roundabout route through streams and rivers.
Cypress seemed to be shrinking the further they went. Thoth didn’t fancy shifting back into a fairy to answer Danny’s question, so he just waved his tail ambiguously and pressed on at greater speed. The increased velocity meant he knocked his paw badly on a couple of occasions but managed to suppress a yelp, knowing it would only slow them up more if Danny or Cypress (or both) insisted on examining it. It felt like an age before they crossed the threshold into outlaw territory.
A brief glow of warmth and a low flash marked Cy and Danny’s entry, but Thoth didn’t notice. He had already shifted back into a fairy and was skirting his way around the main body of the camp, heading directly for a small tent pitched slightly apart from the others. He pulled the fabric back and stepped aside to let Cypress and Danny in first before following in behind. The interior was devoid of life, which was a shame – Cy could probably have used a Morveren or a Toby to cuddle. The only contents of the tent were a thin sleeping bag, a rolled up hoody which Thoth had been using as a pillow, a handful of nuts, a couple of sturdy sticks and his backpack.
“Bandages are in short supply,” Thoth admitted to Danny, squatting down near the entrance to the tent. “I could probably get hold of a blanket to tear up.”
