Situated at the edge of Kingswood Forest, The Stone Dragon tavern is on the border of the King's control. Consequently, it is a hotspot for outlaws and law-abiding citizens alike. A number of secret rooms, doors and passages enable outlaws to hide or make a quick getaway whenever the King's men come swooping in. As there is also an inn here, this is also a popular place for temporary travellers and explorers.

thoth we spend all our time running for our lives, going nowhere
Cypress didn’t answer immediately but she did smile. Thoth relaxed a little, his shoulders visibly releasing some of the tension they had carried. He understood smiles. Smiles were easy, and decidedly more pleasant than other emotions.
Also decidedly more pleasant than other emotions was the one which prompted Cypress to lean forward, reach hold of his poor, tattered shirt and press her lips against his. Characteristically, Thoth froze for a second at being touched unexpectedly but relaxed again much quicker than he used to. She pulled back much too quickly, her lips curved upward invitingly. She was still close enough that Thoth could distinguish clearly between the brown and green flecks in her eyes. He already had the pattern memorised, but a reminder never hurt.
Her words were broken off when Sneezewort forced his head between them, twisting his neck at a spectacular angle in order to achieve the feat. Thoth shoved his head away irritably while Cypress laughed again. Not only was the pony doing a better job of cheering his girlfriend up than he was, now he was getting in the way of one of the things Thoth liked best about having a girlfriend. Maybe now that Cypress was happy he could ask her if she wanted to kiss again. Or maybe it was still too soon after the bad things had happened. Sometimes when bad things happened to Thoth, he wasn’t in the mood to be sociable for a few days afterwards.
He was still trying to make up his mind when the decision was taken out of his hands. Almost all the floor space in the tent was taken up by Sneezewort’s sprawling body; the rest was occupied by Cypress, lying on the sleeping bag next to him. Consequently, there was no floor space available for anyone else wanting to enter the tent – particularly not reapers who death portal their way magically from the shadows. Thoth couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment Aura appeared because she tripped (probably immediately) and fell forward onto the pony, exactly as he’d done moments before. The only difference was that this time, he was in between Sneezewort and the faller. Thoth grunted – more in surprise than pain, since she was tiny – as his mother fell on top of him, dropping her scythe down a narrow gap between Sneezewort’s side and the tent wall. As soon as the staff slipped from her hands, her pale blue robes vanished and were replaced with a grey tank top and shorts. In regular clothes, with her ageless face and total lack of coordination, she could have been a normal teenager like the other two.
She gasped an apology as she scrambled up into a sitting position on the lower part of Sneezewort’s back. Thoth pulled his legs back and sat up as well, closer to the withers. Rubbing his shoulder where her sharp chin had struck it, he shot her a disparaging look. She at least had the decency to look guilty – for a moment. Her expression changed to one of puzzlement as she looked around, taking in her surroundings.
“Why…” she started, glancing down at Sneezewort, but apparently changed her mind. “Um – are you ready now?”
Thoth glanced questioningly at Cypress, passing the request for permission to speak over to her.
