THROUGH THE SMOKE & THE FLAMES
Too long had passed in his beloveds absence. He had found himself with the fruits of their love, their beautiful children, but not her. Themis had seemingly all but vanished, her son as well. His immediate thought was Phobus, had he snuck in and taken them? The thought made him take action, leaving his children in Yesimire's care. He tore away from Amberbjorne to Tarbens borders in the day, calling forth the alphas Kublai and Lova. He paced anxiously, on guard in case there was a threat. "Mabbit, what is it?" His head quickly turned so his rubies could bare into Kublai's own embers.
"Where is Phobus? Does he have Themis and Demius? Are they here?" He spoke in pain, in fear. He had already lost a mate long ago, and now this. "I haven't seen Phobus since Lova's father deployed him before the war . . . She's been missing as well, some of our other members have too - Including two of our children." Kublai's words seemed troubled as well, worried. The new Dane King was a caring one as well. "I don't . . . I don't have the numbers for the peace treaty, Kublai." He spoke shortly, thinking everything over. "Then you will have to make them, Mabbit. We need the numbers, we need good blood for the realm to survive. Find another mate, have more children. I'm sorry, I'm not much help." Kublai spoke with sorrow in his eyes, reflecting the empathy for Mabbits loss. He turned and walked back into Tarbens territory, slipping away into the snowy brush.
The Amberbjorne King gave a wilted sigh, lost in his thoughts. He couldn't just pluck someone away like that, could he? It took him so long to find the courage to even tie himself to Themis. He was fearful, what if he wasn't cut out for this? What if he lost the throne and Themis came back to her home in ruins? Or if he took another mate, had children even and Themis returned? He had no choice it seemed . . . He walked slowly back to Amberbjorne, simply strolling the night away as he returned home with more issues than when he had left. He felt he had an obligation to keep the throne, for Themis's sake and memory. Only one of their children would inherit the throne after him. A new mate would strictly be duty. He knew everyone here however, so finding another mate would have to be a newcomer. Else he'd feel awkward. His crown of horns fell back to call forward Amberbjorne, before he beckoned his children out of his den and sat the throne. This would be an interesting meeting.
