A carnation Flora laid in her den, sick and weak. She slept almost all the time now. Aadya’s body was plagued by fatigue, the loss of appetite, and extreme weakness in her limbs; she only ate about once a day. Last week, Aadya’s condition had worsened, in the regard that she was now unable to stand up.
She clung stubbornly to life, for love for her family. Aadya knew she had a sibling or two out there somewhere. She had heard of more than just one flower-covered pup stumbling into a pack.
She couldn’t die! She was one of the original Flora. She had survived starvation as a tiny pup. She could survive some stupid illness that, as far as she knew, plagued nobody else in Dawnshire. Aadya had slowly begun to toughen up through the months, a good listener and stalker, and she wasn’t as shy now. She believed that there was much more of a future for her, some reason why she had been graced with the ability to toughen up.
Life said elsewise. Aadya’s heart beat sluggishly. She fell asleep. She woke twenty minutes later, shivering violently. She couldn’t know it, but though she was freezing - in the relentless heat of the summer months! Imagine! - she was hot to the touch. The teenaged girl fell to sleep once more, and in these minutes, passed quietly from Starfall.
“And I, I want all the tears back that I cried!”
