Days were dull now. The older of Nadia’s two daughters resided in Drekistone; the younger was dead, wasted by plague and swallowed by the sea, her body broken by rocks and lost to the sight of any living wolf. Wraith’s suicide had haunted Nadia for months, ever since its happening. So had all her other ghosts, those of her siblings and father, so many losses piled up. Skadi had been the last living of Nadia’s full siblings, but her death had kicked off the last realm war; Raven had died some time before, birthing Nadia’s nieces and nephews far off in Ranjord, the island pack. Boiko, Huginn, and Muninn had all died long before that in Phobus’ War, along with half-siblings, and no reachable family was left to the woman. She never left Dawnshire, caring for her adopted son. She had barely any desire to leave Dawnshire territory.
The albino tribrid sat by her den, staring off into the distance as she zoned out, remembering Larentia, her mother, and their last exchange.
