Rambaldi had taken leave of his home for now. Leaving Mari to take care of things; she was very capable. He headed to the Elder Tree; from his mother’s stories and his own memories he loved that goddamn tree.
Rambaldi needed to think. But as he was nearly there, a pink line connected to his chest. He stopped, then continued. He had heard about these; his sister Mari had manifested one just recently. His parents had met by way of a soulmate thread.
When he reached the Elder Tree, his match was actually there. Standing, a beautiful girl of shocking black brindling. He also noticed she was a Monokeros; flames were raging on her back. He called out a greeting to her. “Hello there, I am Rambaldi. Who are you?” Kind of a generic greeting-but oh well.
His eyes studied her. She seemed agitated, as shown by the flames that were licking angrily at her back. He had a shudder of premonition. Whoever this girl was, she wasn’t going to be good. This match could only end in chaos and heartbreak.
Rambaldi reflected on one of his mother’s favorite theories. Some say that soulmate ties are unreliable and fickle, that they often pair together wolves who aren’t compatible at all. But what if it’s truly a matching of soulmates, and it’s up to the wolves in question to make it work? So even though a voice inside Rambaldi was absolutely screaming to get the hell away from her and never ever look back, he stayed.
