The giggly girl narrowed her eyes at where the line had been. “I don’t like that either, Enif. Screw the fates and bury them in butterfly scales!” she declared indignantly. “I am going to get to know my soulmate if I want to. And I want to!” She paused, then, “No hoity-toity deity of fate is going to tell ME I have to just drop everything and run away because, oh, look, a little pink line vanished, so oops now I can’t have a soulmate anymore and I can’t get to know Enif!”
Her wings fluttered with indignance and agitation. Enif was very nice! She wanted to settle down! She wanted a man to love her, and she wanted to love. No absence of a line was going to tell her that wasn’t possible. Okay, so maybe she couldn’t know if Enif was going to be that at this point, but . . . “I would love to know you.”
“Feeling the pain as innocence dies!”
