Two teen wolves made their way up the mountains in Starfall, the mountains of which lead to the lands of Hawthorne. They knew that their mother currently resided there…and had the brother and sister had refrained from going there themselves. They heard the rumors about Hawthorne being a land seething with vampires, of which many had coats of pitch and some markings of crimson. How did their mother come across those lands…and why did she join them? These thoughts rushed through both Kelsea’s and Oracle’s mind, but the emotions and feelings of Kelsea were much more apparent on her face compared to Oracle. Kelsea’s ashen snout wrinkled a little in disgust as she got a small whiff of iron…blood. She audibly gagged, her light brown eyes with blue flecks closing momentarily. Oracle rolled his own light brown eyes, his left cloudied because of the blindness. ”Kels, I know. But we have to see mom.” Kelsea sighed, her light brown chest with ash blaze rising as she then followed with a deep breath, trying her best to ignore the faint smells. ”You’re right, Oracle. I’m sorry.” Kelsea said, her voice rather somber. Her brother, coated in mostly a ash gray slightly lighter than the fur on her, along with a white ear, and a recent mutation that made him gain dragonfly wings, was much more confident than she despite his own flaws and disabilities. Oracle often complained about his lack of depth perception due to his blindness in his left eye, so Kelsea couldn’t help but feel guilty about being a healthy wolf. Her brother spoke once more. ”Come on. Let’s go.” he spoke, his soft voice easing Kelsea as he motioned his head further up the mountain. Kelsea nodded, pausing for a second before following suit and eventually passing her brother. After a while, they reached the borders of Hawthorne. Kelsea noticed the stench of blood…actually remained similar to that lower down the mountain. Very faint. It surprised her, and without thinking she began to tread onto the lands. Oracle placed his paw in front of her, causing Kelsea to trip and roll inland. Oracle spoke as she stopped. ”Hold on.” He paused. ”Although we know that our mother is in the lands…we should wait.” Kelsea looked back, her light brown eyes with blue flecks clouding for a moment. She was one of the more sensitive ones…and still being young and exploring the world made it difficult. She slunk back so that she was next to her brother, who awaited patiently. Both knew what they had to do. With a nod, the both of looked inland and howled out, calling for their mother. Actions & Words
