Khasinau heeded his aunt’s call - slipping in quietly among the first members to arrive, eyes narrowed against the light of the day. He knew he had a duty to do in courting and then wedding Bia of Sabertooth. That didn’t mean he had to like it, and truth be told, a marriage involving the sunrise male would make for a very frosty marriage right now. He was bitter at the prospect of being given to some foreign girl. Actually, he was sour he had to marry at all. What good were mates and marriage, really? He would rather remain an eternal bachelor, untethered to mate or children. And women - they were fickle, unreliable, and untrustworthy. Without one was how Khasinau was better off.
He snorted, disbelieving, at his sister Megaera’s match. Wasn’t this Castiel man the heir of Sindri? If Queen Swallowtail died in two weeks, Megaera would be the new Queen of Sindri. That was certainly much better than the lots of Lucifer and Samael. They were now betrothed to unborn females . . . that must be uncomfortable for them. And Kanaya, Khasinau’s grandmother, was to take a second mate, a prince of Amaya. He was much younger than Kanaya, certainly. Khasinau huffed to himself. What a mess of responsibility.
