Daenerys wasn’t sure what she was doing here. It was quiet and dull. There was prey, yes, but so far she hadn’t seen anything but large ones. She only needed a hare. Daenerys sighed and shook her head. What a nuisance this was. She was hungry and bored. What’s more the black dragoness was itching for particular excitement-a fight. She had not battled in so long. She breathed her fire just to see flames; it lit up the darkening air. She breathed in the smell of dark, wet soil. Deer had grazed patches of the Hunting Grounds to bare, brown dirt recently. She could see their beds, their hoofprints everywhere. Dany blasted a plume of flame into the earth.
Of course nothing happened. It was soil. Fire couldn’t harm it except char it a little bit. She started walking southward. Not that she had a destination in mind. She was just wandering. Looking for anything to occupy herself with. It was a boring day. She had nothing to do.
“Fire cannot kill a dragon.”
