“Nadia? It’s Wendigo.” Nadia perked her ears up. She was exhausted, and so she was curling up to sleep. She was immediately on her feet.
“Wendigo! Is there something wrong?” She hurried to the entrance of her den. He was standing there, his face as always cloaked in the strange black burn. He looked tense. Nadia stared into those burning dark orbs. “Is there something I can help you with?” Truth be told, she wasn’t really Wendigo’s biggest fan. She admired him as a trainer, yes, but she always saw him guarding Drevis, Hawthorne’s royal girl. And to think that he was helping guard a prisoner was very disturbing. As far as Nadia knew, there was no reason to kidnap a woman and provoke the second-biggest pack in Starfall. She studied him. There was something in his eyes she couldn’t pick out. All gods, was she really studying him? To make herself cut it out, she cleared her throat.
