The tall black wolf stood at the edge of the pack, eyeing the going-ons within. His black coat stood out against the snow and ice, the contrast like wheat against dark earth. His orange-red eyes narrowed as a bird flew close by him, but he ignored it. He had traveled for many months around Starfall, slipping through the shadows going hopefully unnoticed. He'd eyed many of the packs around here and was finally ready to find one for his own, to be a part of a community.
He'd always been a loner, but he was finally ready for companionship. But he needed companionship that was tough but fair- that was bold and ruthless, like he was. He'd scoped out all of the other packs, and of them all, he thought Tarben would be the best.
The wind whipped around him as he stood on the edge of the pack, but he wasn't cold. His heart was pumping and blood rushed through his veins in anticipation- despite his unwillingness to admit it, he was ready for companionship. He was sick of being a loner.
As the wind blew patterns into his shaggy black pelt, he lifted his ebony muzzle to the sky and let loose a deep howl.
