Mori had noticed the last few weeks life seeping out of Rayne, both that of her sickness but also new life from the pups that still kicked actively in her stomach. Mori was not intentionally letting her die, as he would bring food, but it seemed like Rayne could not keep it down much. Her wing had not healed much…it could have very well brought some nasty infection into her bloodstream, going undetected until these last few weeks, where it appeared to take her quickly. He wondered if she’d be able to give birth yet. Just as that thought crossed his mind as he was out hunting some small field mice, his audits perked at Rayne calling his name. The emerald wings on his back whipped him upwards, and he flew towards their den. *fade out, fade in* He was right...this birth was too much. Required too much energy that her body just barely had. Mori had a flood of emotions, from now having his own children, which was exciting, to…dying Rayne. He watched the blood pool around her after giving birth to the second pup, his violet eyes to meet her eyes as the life faded from them. He felt a sadness in his heart, but…he could not help but also revel in the sight of death. ”Nikolai, Baladan. Take care of them. Don’t let them die, protect them.” He sighed, lowering his head down to her face. ”I will, Rayne.” Mori spoke, pausing for a moment to take in those eyes as the life faded. The moment they did, he spoke again. ”Rest peacefully, dear Rayne.” His violet eyes and eventually cranium turned towards the two little boys, one having wings of both dragon and avian, and the other having wings similar to his now deceased mother. Mori sighed once more before he gently picked up the two little boys by the scruff. He needed to find a female to help tend to them, at least until he could give Rayne a proper burial and sendoff.
