The Monster had truly found peace in his new homeland of Tarben. Within the pack, he kept his distance from everyone. He kept a watchful eye on the borders; Lucaya could choose to go back on her word at any moment, sending a hateful mob into the lands of Tarben to capture and kill him once and for all. He wasn’t immortal, even if he was a demon. Lucaya new better than to send a mob though. They would be scented well before they arrived in the lands and Beartooth surely would have put together a party strong enough to snap all of their necks. After the war, incredibly, Beartooth decided to offer up all of the single women in Tarben. Had it been to tempt him from his hiding in the cave? Beartooth knew Phobus was too interested in women to turn down this offer. While all the others got claimed, he had set his eyes upon a pretty blue femme, one who looked like she could easily be manipulated. Eyre seemed that way. As the flashback in his mind ended he realized no time had passed from him greeting said dove upon the rock. The Monster had been laying it on quite thick in the process of attempting to open her up a bit. He knew the rumors that spread about him - while most of them true. They painted him as this evil guy with no good bone in his body. This wasn’t the case; well, maybe not with women. The lady had greeted him back as he sat beside her, turning her attention once again to the starry night above them. Phobus watched her for a mere moment, before turning his ruby gleamed orbs upon the cosmos himself. He could feel her shock when he complimented her, enjoying the taste of surprise lingering in the air. “Thank you~!” Her little voice cooed out. Had she never heard that she was beautiful before? Wow, Tarben really did have a way of teaching women they were only there to make children. Sure, Phobus had the same intentions, but he also wouldn’t mind a companion to brainwash in the process. If he could make her believe he truly was in love.. maybe she’d follow him blindly. “I’m okay. Just enjoying the night sky. It’s much easier on my eyes compared to the daylight, being part albino and all.” Phobus turned his eyes, meeting hers and seeing the gentle grin resting upon her face. He proceeded in response to give her a gentle smile back. He could play the part of a caring and gentle mate. Hell, he’d let her take the lead for now - he simply wanted to enjoy tearing her down in the end. “It seems you’re more of a night time enjoyer too. It’d be ironic if you weren’t, given the starry pelt you have and all.” The teasing in her voice was obvious, but he could scent a bit of worry behind it. Like maybe she thought he would snap at her. Instead, the brute gave a soft laugh, nodding along to her teasing. “I do enjoy the night. It’s the only time I can truly feel myself. Being an ethereal is great and all - but I feel more connected to it during the evening.” He commented, turning his gaze from her once more, turning his rubies upon the stars once again. As the lass fell silent, Phobus wondered what she would be thinking. “I know it must’ve come as a surprise, maybe a disappointment, when I claimed you. I know the stories being spread about me, the awful things Hawthorne claims I’ve done. I didn’t mean for that War to begin. I simply wanted to live in peace. Hawthorne couldn’t accept that.” He shrugged, casually brushing off the trials in Hawthorne and the War. “Being here in Tarben seems to have mellowed me out. Could I tell you a story, little dove?” He asked softly, pressing against her gently as a cold wind blew over the two. If she were to agree, he’d give a soft smile and begin to speak once more, his husky voice rippling through the wind. “My mother abandoned my brother and I back in our Homeland. She’d been forced out - A princess getting pregnant with the helps children? She was a mockery. She also was claimed to have killed her father. The King of the land. She abandoned us with one of the nurses, as if that would give us the best future we could ask for. Every time we’d bring up Themis at all, the nurse would refuse to speak about it, and the guards - they things they’d do to us were unspeakable. We grew up resenting Themis for the life she’d given us.” He murmured, shaking his head. He kept his voice level, giving a saddened sigh at the recounting. While upon his face he appeared sad, in his brain, he was giddily laughing. He could only hope Eyre was falling for this. “When we arrived in Starfall, we immediately sought her out. Apparently, she’d arrived here, as well as our Uncle and Cousins. It was a new start. Themis took us in, and while Demius quickly forgave her and started his own life.. I couldn’t get past it. I couldn’t forgive her for her actions, the actions that clearly caused the trauma I grew up with. Maybe that’s why I acted out. Maybe.. I just wanted my mothers affection, my mother’s sight, and my mother’s love. It’s in the past now, well past repair. I only wish to have a family that’s loving.” He whispered the last part, lowering his head slightly. Part of him hoped that Eyre would believe and comfort him, as this was the start of his manipulation on her. Maybe, just maybe.. he could get her to believe in his lie, to believe in him. So there he waited. Waited to hear her voice, waited to hear.. anything the sound of wind whistling in his ears.
